The wheel bug's flying abilities are quite impressive, but also a bit misunderstood. They can fly, but only short distances and at a relatively slow pace.
Wheel bugs are capable of generating lift and thrust using their large hindwings, which are often mistaken for a single large wing.
These insects are also able to use their front wings to steer and maneuver in mid-air, allowing them to make sharp turns and quick changes in direction.
Despite their flying abilities, wheel bugs are generally not very agile or aerodynamic, and tend to prefer walking or running to get around.
Flight and Movement

Their front legs are adapted for grabbing prey.
Their wings fold flat along their backs, creating an X pattern.
