Twin bed lifts are a great way to add storage and functionality to your home, especially in small spaces. They can be used in guest rooms, home offices, or even playrooms.
A twin bed lift typically has a weight capacity of 300-400 pounds, making it suitable for most adults. The lift's frame is usually made of sturdy materials like metal or wood.
To ensure safe and smooth operation, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions for assembly and use. Regular maintenance, such as lubricating the lift's mechanisms, can also help prevent issues.
A twin bed lift can be a game-changer for homes with limited floor space, allowing you to make the most of every inch.

What to Consider
When buying a twin bed lift, consider the weight capacity, as it should be able to support the combined weight of the bed and any occupants. A standard twin bed lift usually has a weight capacity of around 500-700 pounds.
Make sure to measure your space carefully to ensure the bed lift fits comfortably and doesn't obstruct any doors or hallways. A typical twin bed lift is around 40-50 inches wide and 80-90 inches long.
Think about the type of bed you want to lift, as some bed lifts are designed specifically for certain types of mattresses or bed frames. For example, a bed lift with a storage drawer underneath may not be suitable for a bed with a heavy headboard.
Our Shopping List
When building a twin bed lid or mattress base, it's essential to have the right materials. You'll need a 4x8'x3/4" sheet of plywood, which will serve as the base of your project.
To attach the lid to the base, you'll need door hinges, which will allow the lid to open and close smoothly. We used a drill to attach the hinges, and it's essential to use a drill bit with a head that matches the screw head type.

A RV Bedlift Kit is also necessary, but make sure to get the correct size for your bed's dimensions. We experimented with the "DOUBLE/FULL" size, which worked perfectly for our side-access twin bed.
Here's a list of materials you'll need for your project:
- 4x8'x3/4" sheet of plywood
- 1x4x8 for the handle
- 1x2x8 (optional) for the handle
- Door hinges
- RV Bedlift Kit (correct size for your bed)
- Drill
- Hole saw
- Wood screws
- Drill bit with head to match screw head type
- Sander + sandpaper
- Paintable latex caulk
- Primer + paint
- Adhesive felt tape (optional)

Product Specifications
The twin bed lift is designed to work with standard-size twin beds, but keep in mind that other bed sizes may require different placements.
The optimum operating angle for the lid is between 45°-55°, which allows for easy opening and closing.
The bottom twin bed/base-side connection brackets for the gas springs are placed 2-3/4” from the back of the bed.
If the bedlift is too difficult to operate, you can try relocating the lower, bed base-side set of brackets back toward the hinges to relieve some pressure from the springs.
The top/lid-side connection brackets for the gas springs are 19-1/4” from the back wall of the bed.
The small notches made in the bed base for the lid brackets to go into are 2-1/2” long, 1-1/4” deep, and start 19-1/4” from the back wall of the bed.
The lid-side brackets are installed with the "nobbies" facing toward the outside ends and not to the center of the bed.
Measure carefully, as the instructions say to measure from the hinge-side, not the handle-side of the lid.
